No more Edges??? Say Hello to new and improve: How to grow your edges back!!!




I hear it all the time, my edges are so damage, Stans, how do I grow them back?

To say there is an easy solution is not the answer because it may just be different strokes for different folks. What I am trying to say is what works for me may not work for you, however there is a census on some overall tips that might just help you.

Let's start with a few oils, tips and tricks:



Castor Oil

This carrier oil has to be one of my favourite oils since making the decision to have healthy natural growing hair. I quickly learned that this oil has been used for years in the West Indies and even as a child my mom and grandma used it.

How quickly we forget?!?

Well, needless to say I remember the smell of castor oil mixed with other ingredients and used on my hair as a child very briefly, but I do remember it. It was great to rediscover and learn more than I ever have about the benefits of castor oil.

Castor oil

* castor oil is great for thickening and growing hair
* castor oil can be use on your eyebrows and eyelashes
* castor oil is high in ricinoleic acid which is very effective natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agent
* Helps to prevent hair loss by coating the hair with it
* castor oil is high in omega 9 fatty acids which is essential to nourish both the hair and follicle
* Experiment with using carrier oils and using essential oils, since many carrier oils can clog the pores
   if not diluted.

Please note I will do a late article on the benefits castor oil has when used on the skin.

Coconut oil

*Coconut oil is a great oil because it penetrates the cortex instead of simply sitting on your scalp.
*Coconut oil is light enough that it wont clog your pores causing to much build up
*As an essential oil is a useful when mixed with other carrier oils
*Coconut oil can also be used as a natural conditioner
*Coconut oil is great for stimulating the scalp and produce regrowth and a healthy scalp
*It can be used on our skin, hair and foods, it is a much healthier natural alternative
*It has also been known to slow down hair loss

Olive oil

*Great for deep conditioning treatments, oil treatments and as a Carrier oil when mixed with other essentials
* Be careful when using because this oil is heavy and can clog your pores
*Promotes scalp health
*Olive oil is also another carrier oil that helps with the production of hair loss by stopping the  loss of Hormone called DTH and fighting off dandruff, and other adverse conditions that can contribute to hair loss
*Olive oil is loaded with antioxidants which can help rejuvenate the scalp
*This oil can also be used as a natural hair conditioner and aids with shiny and softness to the hair

Tips:
* Hot oil treatments, castor oil, tea tree oil, lime oil and Jojoba oil can make can amazing deep conditioner and scalp treatment for the hair. These mixes will not only target scalp problems but reduce shedding, breakage, and promote growth and health of your scalp, follicle and hair.

Jojoba oil

Jojoba oil is prized as a natural ingredient because its composition is similar to that of your scalp's natural oil called sebum. Use straight from the bottle, although it's not considered as effective a penetrator as coconut oil, or mix with conditioners and hair moisturizers it is still a great alternative.

*It is one of the few oils which can be applied to the scalp and wont disturb the scalps natural balance
*It can be used to treat scalp problems and very effective when mix with oils such as lime oil and tea tree oil
*Jojoba oil is a great oil for scalp massages to promote hair growth especially before bed
*You can apply Jojoba oil to your shampoo, conditioners and hot oil treatments to prevent stripping of the hair and coat the hair, to add manageability, and shiny
*Jojoba oil is rich in Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, B2, B6 and E

Other oils, tips and tricks

~Water
~lime oil
~tea tree oil
~peppermint oil
~massages
~Clarify any build-up either by shampooing, or using ACV (apple cider vinegar which is my preferred method) I do not shampoo as often as I use to.

Tips:

1) Do not braid your hairline, and if you do try not to do it tight.
2) When wearing buns try not to pull your hair back to tight, your only rooting your edges out if you do.
3) Castor oil place around your edges help me with a fading hairline, it might work for you
4) Moisture is your best friend
5) Deep conditioning treatment help lock in moisture and protect hair growth
6) Hair loss maybe be linked to hormonal changes that can range from anything to stress and pregnancy
7) If your hairline is sparse because of medications talk to your doctor
8) Keep in mind genetics play a huge part in the texture, growth and other factors for hair growth and hair loss
9) Make sure your wigs are not to tight on your hair line
10) Allow your scalp the opportunity to breathe, remove the wigs, weaves or braids when you can
11) Experiment with styles that compliment you and give you confidence, natural hair is beautiful
12) Keep away from chemicals, flat irons, and use blow dryers on cool or gentle
13) Be delicate with your hair and hairline
14) Keep your scalp clean; an unhealthy scalp can mean damage and hair loss
15) Eat healthy, drink lots of water, overall health is a contributing factor to hair health
16) Be patient, good practices lead to hair growth. however hair does grow the way you it to overnight.

Please note many of these tips, tricks, method are from my own personal experience. I have used consistency, patience and learning to grow my hair. Develop your own method, learn your hair and pay attention to its needs, feel and experiment.
